Automation module "Marking On The Fly"

Unclocked continuous production processes require the possibility of marking products without interrupting the work flow. Therefore TRUMPF offers the software option "Marking on the Fly" for all VectorMark laser marking systems. The speed of the passing parts, e.g. on a conveyor belt, is measured continually. At the same time, the marking is adapted to real-time conditions, which prevents marking distortion on the product. The speed of the transport equipment is continuously measured using an encoder signal to ensure consistent marking even if the assembly line is started up or decelerated. More than 1,500 parts are marked with a six-character code per minute in existing production lines.

With the automation module "Quickflow," TRUMPF has augmented the operating software of the VectorMark diode-pumped laser marking systems. Using this additional program, it is possible to control the entire marking cycle from start to finish and to react to different measuring data by means of data exchanges with external systems. Measured data can therefore be automatically integrated into the marking program and then entered on the product. This is used, for example, in the marking of machine-specific scales.

The VectorMark laser ensures the indelible and durable marking of the most varied workpiece shapes and materials, even in hard-to-reach locations. The user-friendly laser programming provides for the versatile application of variable text, serial numbers, data-matrix codes, barcodes, logos and drawings.

The outstanding beam quality of the diode-pumped lasers achieves a high power density in the focus and an efficient interaction with the material as a result. The high pulse-to-pulse stability of the systems ensures homogenous material abrasion. In addition to controlled layer abrasion in the µm range, and very fine, intricately textured marking tasks, applications also include surface engraving and deep engraving as well as the production of high-contrast temper colors.

TRUMPF offers a comprehensive program of VectorMark laser marking systems. All machines are fully compatible in terms of mechanics, software and operation. The most diverse application needs are met with a graduated product range: different laser outputs allow variable cycle times to be achieved. Three available wavelengths (1064, 532 and 355 nm) allow the optimal physical effect to be exploited depending on the material being used. And finally, various laser crystals (YAG and YVO4) open up a broad range of pulse peak outputs and pulse repetition frequencies.

The advantages of the TRUMPF VectorMark laser marking systems at a glance:

·	Extremely compact design.

·	Short machining times and maximum precision thanks to high beam quality.

·	High efficiency.

·	Designed for heavy industrial use over multiple shifts.

·	User-friendly marking software using Windows NT and XP.

·	Versatile options for integration in automated production lines thanks to open interface architecture, e.g. via parallel, serial or Profibus interfaces.

·	Extensive remote-access options with TRUMPF’s proven Telepresence.

·	Low operating costs.
